President Signs Tax Extenders into Law

On the afternoon of Friday, December 18th President Obama signed into law the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015. This Bill includes the extension of the 179D Tax Deduction retroactively for 2015 and all projects placed into service by the end of 2016. As part of the extension, the ASHRAE requirement will be increased from the 2001 to the 2007 standards for any projects placed into service after 12/31/2015. The increase to the ASHRAE requirements will have the most effects on the lighting category. As a result to the increased efficiency standards, Walker Reid’s whole building approach and engineering expertise will be critical now more then ever in maximizing results for the 179D Tax Deduction.
